Clark + Walker Studio : Expert Advice

Offering both photo & video, Clark + Walker Studio has a wealth of experience capturing memories for their brides. In addition to literally being flown around the world for weddings, they are regularly commissioned to shoot for the top wedding magazines & blogs in the industry & have a good pulse for the questions on the current bride's mind.

Luke Walker, of Clark + Walker Studio offers his expert advice when planning your engagement & wedding day photos.

(Expert Tip)
"Make sure the imagery from your wedding, whether it be video, photographs, or your engagement shots, reflects your event & most importantly your personalities. You don't have to go take your pictures in Congress Park because "that's what brides do." Quite the opposite in fact, choose a spot or a theme that reflects your character, your relationship, & something unique about you. Two months ago when we shot in Puerto Rico we elected to do the relaxed, signature portraits of the bride & groom in Old San Juan. Instead of going to the beach, which is what most people think they have to do with a destination wedding, we all decided that Old San Juan would be the area that really represented what the bride & groom loved about Puerto Rico & why they chose to get married there. Bright colored buildings in the background, cobblestone streets, hand-painted tile staircases.... The images we created together were very special to the bride & groom. When it comes time to do your engagement shoot, if you are wine fans then go to a winery & get some shots in the vineyards at sunset & some shots sitting on the large barrels of wine. You don't have to to stand in a generic park if that's not your vibe & your style.

The important point here is to create images that put you in your comfort zone, that show you having fun, & represent the two of you, your interests, & your life together. That's really what the entire wedding process should be about anyway right?"

Tracey Buyce Photography

Tracey, of Tracey Buyce Photography, is excited to announce that she will be giving away a $1000 portrait collection to a family in need!

Tracey says, "I love, love, love my job…. I believe everyone should have beautiful photos to document their family, to tell their story… read on & nominate someone who truly deserves the gift of custom photography."

You know someone. You know someone who’s experienced a tragedy, is struggling to stay afloat, is raising kids while holding down more than one job, or is volunteering selflessly despite extenuating personal circumstances. You know someone who can’t afford custom photography, but who would cherish this gift. You know someone who deserves a year-round reminder of their family’s spirit, love, & beauty.

You know someone. We guarantee it.

Tracey wants to know who they are, to give them the chance to experience complimentary custom photography - a $1000 Portrait Collection, to be exact. It’s in your power to give them the artwork they deserve!

Oh, & the best part? The person who nominates the winner receives a free portrait session as well! What better reason could there possibly be to show some love?

The Rules:

* You cannot nominate yourself, & the person nominated must sincerely be incapable of purchasing Tracey's services.

* The nominee must reside in New York, within The Capital Region. Tell Tracey who you know, what they’re experiencing, & why they deserve her artwork. Please include a way to contact both your nominee as well as yourself.

* You must e-mail Tracey the full story at tbuyce@gmail.com

The winner will be announced on April 2nd, so get nominating!

Heron Hill Winery

Heron Hill Winery sponsors Benches on Parade!

Benches on Parade is a summer-long community arts project that showcases local creativity and civic pride while helping raise funds for local not-for-profits presented by Nazareth College and produced by Dixon Schwabl. Heron Hill Winery is proud to sponsor the largest bench that will be painted by internationally renowned artist Philip Burke who will be painting local musician Chuck Mangione onto a bench! Burke’s vivid caricatures have adorned the pages of Rolling Stone magazine for more than a decade. His style is unmatched; explosive use of color, sparing brush strokes and distorted renditions of his subjects.

The benches will be displayed all across the Greater Rochester and Finger Lakes area starting in May and at the end of the summer, the benches will be auctioned off to the highest bidder. A portion of the auction proceeds will benefit Nazareth College Arts Center, Rochester City Ballet, the New York Wine & Culinary Center and an additional non-profit of the high-bidder’s choice. Owner and grape grower, John Ingle, is thrilled to have Rolling Stone’s past artist designing Heron Hill’s bench. “Everyone that participates in this community project benefits,” he said. “It’s a win, win, win.”

Heron Hill Winery has generously donated to over 50 great causes and organizations including: Ducks Unlimited, Palate Press Wine Auction for Haiti, Camp Good Days, Golisano Children’s Hospital, PBS, Tanglewood Nature Center, Breast Cancer Coalition of Rochester, Relay for Life, Historical Society, Red Cross, Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, United Way, SPCA, March of Dimes and Museum of Natural History.
