Fall and Winter Makeup Tips for Brides by Donna Devine, of Devine Wedding Belles
First and Foremost- Be yourself!
Don’t make the mistake of going for a dramatically different direction than your normal special occasion look. It’s best to stay with a makeup style you know you are comfortable with and then up the glam...as makeup artist I specialize in translating that for you!
Concealer - applied over your foundation will provide better coverage, and using a specially formulated under eye highlighter will brighten the eye area as well.
Eyeliner - If you tend to have a smaller eyelid a great option for eyeliner is a tightline . This is done preferably with a cream or cake liner and a thin brush. Keep the line “tight” to the lash line as is possible to darken and define without overtaking the smaller lid.
Eyeshadow - Powder eyeshadows applied along or over a cream shadow work best for fall/winter weddings when deep, rich colors are most appropriate.
Waterproof Mascara - Always a must whatever season to withstand those tears of joy!
Bronzer - In colder months, bronzer can still be used with a deeper hued blush applied over the apples of your cheeks.
Long Lasting Lips - While glosses are especially beautiful in the summer months, they tend to be too sheer for fall and winter. Using a lip stain with a gloss over it or a lipstick with a gloss over it will give your lips a richer hue for the fall/winter wedding
Brows - Best advice for an eye opening look...fill in those brows! Using short feathery strokes with a brow pencil or cake powder in a brow matching shade will frame your eyes so they really are the center of attention. Don’t forget a clear gel to coat your brows to keep them in place.
Get the Red Out - If your eyes look tired or red use a drop of a brand of eyedrops you’ve used before to lighten and brighten.
Zap It! - If a last minute zit threatens to ruin your pictures and your perfect makeup look, zap It! Treat it daily with a benzoyl peroxide gel. Applied once or twice daily, should reduce the redness and shrink it if not completely obliterating it.
Keep it Even - Bring your foundation or bronzer lightly down to the neck and decollete to ensure an even skin tone (don’t let your face look too different form the rest of your body).
