Congratulations to Something Bleu Bridal's Allison Cascade Kozel who just got engaged September 6th to Collin Badger!
We were all so excited & moved by the romantic proposal (caught on camera) that we just had to share it with everyone!
Allison (whose middle name is Cascade) was named after Cascade Mountain - her parents were married on the summit of Cascade Mountain 33 years ago. (It was also the first high peak Ali climbed on her way to becoming anAdirondack 46er.)
Ali's boyfriend (now fiance) Collin, planned a wonderful & romantic "birthday get-away" to Lake Placid, Ali's favorite place! Surrounded by the high peaks, the couple snacked on fondue & sampled cocktails at dinner on the roof top of Reflections Restaurant.
With the moon setting behind the mountain peaks on the unusually clear night, Ali & Collin peered up at the stars & round moon. Collin presented Ali with her birthday gifts as they chatted about their climb of Cascade Mountain the following morning.
Ali could barely sleep because she was so excited to get on the summit of Cascade Mountain again after almost 20 years! Ali & Collin left the trail head at 8:30am. The whole way up the trail Collin pushed ahead as quickly as he could, exclaiming "We can spend all the time we want at the summit", as Ali hurried along behind him.
As they came closer and closer to the rock face summit, the 360 degree view overtook Ali as she stumbled along past the other climbers already at the summit. Ali noticed Collin walking toward what she thought was a picnic for someone else... As she got closer, Collin turned to her and said "Happy Birthday!"
Ali thought, in confusion, how could he get this basket up here?! Just then Collin dropped to his knee and pulled out the little black box, saying the words Ali had been dreaming of , "Allison Cascade, will you marry me?"
Without a second thought Ali exclaimed "YEEEESS" and leaned in to hug and kiss him.
Ali says, "I was literally blinded by the ring and shocked by how amazing it was."
Collin had custom designed the ring with Mayfair Jewelers in Glenville, New York, creating Ali's dream "vintage" engagement ring - using a 1.08 karat clear diamond in the center & two 1/4 karat diamonds on each side - along with leaf designs with tiny diamonds in every little space that they would fit.
Ali & Collin enjoyed champagne, strawberries, goat cheese & lots of other treats on the summit & listened to the rumbling of other hikers rehashing their engagement the whole way down the mountain. "Did you hear about the couple that was engaged at the summit this morning? How romantic!"
Ali says, "It was great! Just when I thought all the surprises were over, we pulled into our house in Lake George to our engagement party! Collin had gathered 30 of our closest family & friends to celebrate with us! My mother, a floral designer, created a mini wedding of white roses, orchids, lace & candlelight flowing throughout the inside & outside of our house! Truly amazing! A girl was never so loved!"
