National Real Wedding in Florida: Andrea & Blair
Even though it was their big day, Andrea and Blair wanted their guests to enjoy their wedding ceremony to the fullest as they were already overjoyed knowing they would soon be sharing forever with the person of their dreams. "Every decision that went into the wedding planning was framed by the question, 'Does this make for a great guest experience?'" Andrea says. The couple tied the knot in Vero Beach, Florida which meant a good bit of traveling for their guests, who were coming mostly from Atlanta, Georgia and Tallahassee, Florida.
They wanted to give them the feeling of having a mini-vacation. They even got married at 6:30 p.m., so everyone had a nice little beach day before the nuptials. "We paid premiums for the things that we thought our guests would most enjoy--a great band and top-shelf liquor," Andrea says. "We went cheap on the things that we knew wouldn't affect the guest experience--invitations, centerpieces, cake and printing."
The couple loved their location--The Moorings in Vero Beach because Blair is an avid golfer, and they loved the idea of getting married on a golf course. "It was convenient for guests and a beautiful backdrop with the Indian River in the background." Andrea says. The color scheme was pewter and blush pink which was a little different for the outdoor setting, but they loved pewter as a statement color and how the blush pink added elegance.
With a ceremony dedicated to pleasing the guests, they definitely were responsible for creating some of the most memorable moments. "The ceremony was beautiful. Fish were jumping in the river, there was a cool breeze and of course I married the love of my life," Andrea says. "However, one of the most memorable moments of the day was at the reception--my girlfriends brought sticky costume mustaches and everyone wore mustaches on the dance floor for the last hour of the night."
Tips from the newlyweds:
1) Spend money on a great photographer! At the end of the night you will have wilting flowers, an empty bar and a wedding dress with dirt on the hem--but if you select a great photographer you will have incredible pictures to remember it all.
2) Do as many little things beforehand as possible.
