Married at the Lower Mill in Honeoye Falls, NY, Nicole & Jacob strived to fashion a wedding that represented them as a couple. "We wanted our wedding to be very different, very relaxed and very 'us'," says Nicole of the inspiration behind the day. Opting out of a sit-down dinner, the couple chose to provide more hors d'ouevres for guests, focusing the reception on the people and togetherness of loved ones.

Wanting to truly appreciate the day and reception, Nicole & Jacob wrote the ceremony themselves. Going right from the altar to the party, the couple was interested in spending time with their guests and they involved them throughout: a close friend was the couple's officiant. The bride coordinated the event with help from her mother. One special DIY quirk stands out in the photos of the day--the bride's shoes were decorated with an important message, one that would be uttered a few times during the day. Blue rhinestones adorned the underside of her purple heels, reading "I do."

The reception was cheerful. Having hired their favorite musician, they danced and danced. Nicole was particularly fond of the evening's activities, "I literally danced the night away to our favorite local band, I didn’t skip one song," she said. Along with other sweet characteristics of the wedding, Nicole & Jacob decided to skip the traditional cake and instead indulged in an ice cream cake. With regal purple ribbons wrapped around corsages and tulip candles as centerpieces, the atmosphere of the wedding was togetherness, understanded beauty brought to light by the presence of family.
