Johanna and David embraced a 'home for the holidays' feel for their Christmastime wedding in upstate New York, choosing a seasonal color palette of gold and silver tones. The bride wore a cozy mink stole over her dress to keep warm, and keep the glamorous holiday feel of the day.
The bride and groom skipped many mainstream traditions in favor of more personal touches. In lieu of a wedding cake, guests enjoyed slices of cheesecake and other decadent desserts. During the reception, the band focused on playing Christmas music instead of more traditional love songs.
“The dance floor was packed before the first course was even served,” says Johanna. The one tradition that was important for both the bride and groom to honor was not seeing each other until the moment Johanna stepped onto the aisle. “That way, we had the whole day to build up the excitement,” Johanna says.
