Fall Weddings

Azadeh Houshyar to Kermit Westergaard

In a hole-in-the-wall restaurant nestled beneath an elevated subway track in Brooklyn, the couple on a blind date discovered something funny. They had the same name, sort of. "Kermit," a Gaelic name, means "free man"; "Azadeh," in Persian, means "free woman." Lingering for three hours over dinner, while a lone guitarist played flamenco music and the walls rattled every time a train went by, Azadeh Houshyar and Kermit Westergaard discovered a certain chemistry, too. The night felt surreal - "like we weren't even in New York, but in a movie like Amelie," recalls Azadeh.

Fall Weddings

Kara Graham to Austin Sparks

The landscape of upstate New York will always trigger romantic memories for Kara Graham and Austin Sparks—it’s where they shared their first date, where Austin proposed, and where they later tied the knot. The couple met while working summer restaurant jobs after college, not far from sparkling Canandaigua Lake, where Austin’s parents have a lake house. After just one date, they were inseparable. Five months later, Austin moved to Chicago to pursue his career and be closer to his family. The couple knew they wanted to stay together, and debated about how to make it work.

Summer Weddings

Julie Gedalecia to Robin Adams

When Julie Gedalecia and Robin Adams Met, he was a junior at Skidmore College; she had graduated and was teaching ballet in town. Their first date was a trip to a concert in New York City. While they don't recall a specific "falling in love" moment, Julie says, "we made each other happy, and we seemed to get happier the more we stayed together."

Fall Weddings

Jessica Erhardt to Joshua Herberger

Currently residing in the Berkshires in Massachusetts, Jessica Erhardt grew up spending summers at her family's house in the Adirondacks. She wanted a wedding venue that reflected the rustic nature of the areas that she and fiance Joshua Herberger loved. As an event planner, she liked the idea of a barn to provide the backdrop for her wedding design. The Pruyn House offered exactly the setting the couple wanted, with a variety of buildings around the property to accommodate the needs of guests who included children, teenagers, friends, and elderly relatives.
