Rodney Agan, Patti Schacter and On Thai joined forces in 1992, combining their individual design styles and unique business talents, to found Surroundings Floral Studio. Their vision at the time was clear, to provide distinctive traditional and contemporary floral design services to the Capital Region. Meeting the partners is the best way to get to know what to expect when you do business with them.

On Thai, AIFD
On is well known in the Capital Region for his exotic contemporary designs and lush romantic arrangements. Long before he was admitted to the American Institute of Floral Designers in 1990, On was winning accolades for the unique style of his work. He exhibits locally and throughout the Northeast and has won numerous awards, including Teleflora's Peoples Choice Award and Best of Show in the Albany International Flower Show. His creative use of over 2500 roses in a booth design for Seagroatt Riccardi, Ltd. won him Best of Show at the Connecticut Florist Annual Trade Show, held in Hartford, CT in 1998 and 1999. On is generous with his talent and demonstrates regularly before garden clubs and wholesalers in the Northeast. In 1995 he was invited to teach contemporary design at Club in the Park, a leading garden club in the United Kingdom. Highlights of his demonstration career include the annual NYS Museum Fundraiser, the 1996 Federated Clubs for NYS Annual Spring Meeting, and in 1998 he made presentations to the New Jersey and Pennsylvania federated garden clubs. In addition, On designed the florals for the 1997 ad campaign of W.J. Cowee, Inc., a manufacturer of wooden products used in floral design.

Rodney Agan, AIFD
Rodney received his education degree in Ornamental Horticulture at the State University of New York, Cobleskill. He gained admission to the American Institute of Floral Designers (AIFD) in 1991. At the national level, he was honored as FTD Designer of the Year in 1962, was a member of the team of designers that created the floral arrangements for the 1980 Lake Placid Winter Olympics, and in 1989 was appointed by the Society of American Florists to the design team responsible for the floral arrangements at the Presidential Inauguration of George Bush. Rodney served as designer for the New York State Floral Industries Convention and continually instructs and displays at various industry shows. Committed to horticultural education, he regularly instructs at garden clubs throughout the state. Locally, his designs are exhibited every year at the New York State Museum's New York in Bloom and the Wildwood Spring Garden Show.
